Lokimaps is an outdoor map app for iPhone and iPad. It combines official Nordic topographic maps with offline downloads, route planning, track recording, bookmarks, GPX support, and other map tools.

Set up the appSet up the app

  1. Open Lokimaps and continue through the welcome screens.
  2. Choose the included main map that best matches where you spend time. The choices are Topo (Finland), Topo (Sweden), Topo (Norway), and Topo (Worldwide).
  3. Choose carefully. Your included main map cannot be changed later, while Lokimaps PRO gives access to all built-in maps and layers.
  4. Allow location access if you want Lokimaps to show your position, navigate to a destination, or record a track.

If you previously declined location access, open the iOS Settings app, select Apps, then Lokimaps, and review Location.

  1. Drag the map to move to another area.
  2. Pinch or use the zoom in and zoom out controls. More detail appears as you zoom in where the selected map supports it.
  3. Select Locate once to follow your position, again to follow your position and heading, and a third time to stop following.
  4. Use the Maps control in the lower-left group of map controls to switch maps, combine compatible country maps, or show layers above the base map.
  5. Use the Search control near the upper-right corner to find a place, address, supported coordinate, or Finnish property identifier.
  6. Tap the centre crosshair or select Pointer to place a pointer at the map centre. Its details include coordinates, distance, direction, estimated elevation, address, navigation, and bookmark actions.

The bottom toolbar contains Locate , Pointer , Route Planner , Location sharing , Bookmarks , and Settings . The separate map controls contain Maps , zoom in , zoom out , Search , compass, scale, speed, track recording, and other context-dependent information.   1. Select the map you intend to use.
  2. Download the required area while you have a reliable connection.
  3. Save important destinations as bookmarks or import a GPX file.
  4. Check your battery, location permissions, and the map at the zoom levels you expect to use.
