Search can find places and addresses or move the map to a supported coordinate. Search results can become a navigation destination or a saved bookmark.

Find a place or addressFind a place or address

  1. Select the Search control near the upper-right corner of the map.
  2. Enter a place name, address, or point of interest.
  3. Select a suggestion to show its result on the map.
  4. Open the result details to Navigate or Save as bookmark .

Place and address search uses an online service. Results are influenced by the map area currently in view, so move closer to the relevant region if a name is ambiguous.

Successful searches appear under Recents the next time Search opens. Swipe one recent search to delete it, or select Clear above the list to remove all recents.

Find a Finnish property identifierFind a Finnish property identifier

Search recognises Finnish property identifiers written as 14 digits or in the standard four-part hyphenated or space-separated form. Select the Property identifier (Finland) result to request the property's location and centre the map on it. This lookup needs a network connection but does not require PRO.

Search by coordinateSearch by coordinate

  1. Open Search from the map controls.
  2. Paste or type the coordinate, including zone or direction letters when the format requires them.
  3. Select the coordinate result to centre the map and place a marker.

Lokimaps recognises these coordinate systems:

  • WGS84 decimal degrees (DD)
  • WGS84 degrees and decimal minutes (DDM)
  • WGS84 degrees, minutes, and seconds (DMS)
  • ETRS-TM35FIN
  • MGRS
  • UTM / ETRS89
  • SWEREF 99 TM
  • ETRS-GK, with the zone included

Keep latitude and longitude, or northing and easting, in the order shown by the source. Include format labels and zone information when possible to reduce ambiguity.

Read and copy a map coordinateRead and copy a map coordinate

  1. Position the centre crosshair over the required point.
  2. Open Pointer , then open its details.
  3. Open the pointer details and select the coordinate row to copy the displayed value.

To change the displayed format, open Settings , find Units, and select Coordinate system. The same setting is used in map details and saved items.
