Start with the checks below. They solve many temporary problems without changing or deleting your saved items.
First checksFirst checks
- Update Lokimaps from the App Store.
- Confirm that the iPhone or iPad has enough free storage and battery.
- Check the network connection when using search, routed planning, location sharing, or a map area that was not downloaded.
- Close and reopen Lokimaps. If needed, restart the device.
- Reproduce the problem once and note the exact action and message shown.
Location is missing or inaccurateLocation is missing or inaccurate
- Open the iOS Settings app, then select Apps, Lokimaps, and Location.
- Allow the location access requested by Lokimaps. Background track recording needs background location access.
- Enable precise location if the option is shown and you need detailed positioning.
- In Lokimaps, open Settings and review GPS accuracy. Battery saving uses fewer updates and can be less precise.
- Move outdoors with a clear view of the sky and allow time for a new position.
A map is blank or unavailableA map is blank or unavailable
- Open Maps from the map controls and confirm that the intended base map is selected and that you have access to it.
- Move inside the map's documented coverage and try another zoom level.
- If offline, confirm that you downloaded the same map, area, and useful zoom range before losing the connection.
- If cached tiles appear damaged or stale, open the map's Actions menu, choose Download settings , and clear the cache. This removes downloaded data for that map, so download the area again afterwards.
See Maps and layers, the built-in map catalog, and Offline maps for the full workflow.
A custom map or layer does not loadA custom map or layer does not load
- Confirm that Lokimaps PRO is active and that the source is a public HTTPS WMS, WMTS, or WFS service.
- Open the item's Actions menu and select Edit . Check the preview, coverage, style, format, CRS, TileMatrixSet, and transparency options that are available.
- Try another zoom level and move inside the provider's documented coverage.
- For a dense WFS layer, zoom closer and turn off Show annotations.
- Check whether the provider changed or removed its service. Third-party availability is outside Lokimaps control.
Custom sources do not support Download area. See Add custom maps and layers for supported protocols and detailed checks.
Layer AI cannot find or preview a resultLayer AI cannot find or preview a result
Include an area, the information you want, whether it should be a base map or overlay, and a preferred provider when possible. Layer AI only supports public HTTPS WMS, WMTS, and WFS services, so a normal web map, private API, XYZ tiles, or ArcGIS REST-only endpoint will not work.
If the service is temporarily busy or rate-limited, wait a moment and try again. If the agent found several compatible layers, choose one of the exact names it lists. See Find maps and layers with AI for the complete workflow and limitations.
Search, routing, or sharing does not updateSearch, routing, or sharing does not update
These features use online services. Confirm the connection and try again later if a service reports that it is busy. In Route Planner, Direct mode remains available without the online routing service, while walking, cycling, and car modes require PRO and a connection.
For Location sharing, also confirm that the group is enabled and that each member has recent location permission and connectivity.
PRO is not recognisedPRO is not recognised
- Confirm that the subscription is active for the Apple Account on the device.
- Open Settings , select Lokimaps PRO, and choose Restore purchases.
- Wait for the status to refresh before reopening the locked feature.
If you purchased an older single-map subscription within the last six months, see how to claim one free year of Lokimaps PRO.
A GPX file does not importA GPX file does not import
- Confirm that the file name ends in
.gpxand that the file opens normally in Files. - Try importing it from Bookmarks , then choose Import GPX .
- Check whether the file actually contains standard GPX waypoints, routes, or tracks. Proprietary extensions from another app may not transfer.
